A Shoutout to my In-laws

Over the last three weeks, I was able to spend amazing quality time with my in-laws as they came to meet their new grandson and see Australia for the first time. During their visit, I witnessed them love on our little boy so beautifully, interact and meet new people (some days it was meeting lots of new people), experience the heat and wild creatures of Australia, compete against each other in nightly rounds of Skyjo (100% recommend this game!), and much more. I already knew this, but my goodness I scored the jackpot with my in-laws. They are such lovely people, and I’m not just saying this to get brownie-points or whatever.

During our holiday, the conversation came up of the stereotype of in-laws and how much this stereotype troubled them. I’m sure you know what I mean: the stereotype of an overbearing mother-in-law, dreading the in-laws coming to visit, etc. They certainly do not fit this stereotype and are indeed the opposite, whereby they are so supportive and encouraging towards both Chris and I and all that we are doing. Their prayers and faithfulness I’m sure has impacted our lives more than we know, and I don’t want to live life without them. I’m thankful to have them in my life and I hope and pray that our little boy will know his grandparents love and adore him, wherever we are in the world.

Ephesians 6:2-3 – “Honour your father and your mother” – which is the first commandment with a promise – “so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth”.

Love, Gracie.
