Wanderlust Travel Tag

Thought it might be fun to do a post with fun questions and answers about my travel experiences. Hope you enjoy 🙂

1. Where have you travelled to that you would love to travel to again?
Oh my goodness, so many places! In 2014, my younger brother and I visited my older brother when he was working onboard cruise ships in the Caribbean and I would love to one day go back there. I’d also love to see more of the the European countries I’ve been to as well, such as France, Italy, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

2. You’re leaving tomorrow, money is no object where are you going?
Greece and Croatia are so high on my list of places I’d love to travel to, so I’d love to spend some time soaking up the sun and swimming in the beautiful clear water of the Mediterranean. I love the Mamma Mia movies I know they’re filmed in those countries so to have my own little Mamma Mia experience would be so fun!

3. Preferred method of travel; planes, trains, or cars?
All three have pros and cons I suppose, but I do love the excitement of arriving at an airport and just being so excited to travel and go on holidays. And planes have food, so I’ll lock in planes.

4. Favourite travel website?
Lonely Planet, booking.com – do these both count? Booking.com have great deals and I do love a good hotel stay that includes breakfast. Lonely Planet is the OG of travel – their website and travel books are ideal for gathering ideas and are a great starting point for inspiration.

5. Where would you travel to just eat the food?
Italy has phenomenal food, so that’s a must (pizza, pasta, gelato = yum!). I’d love to visit Vietnam as well and experience their food – I’ve heard amazing things about Vietnam and the food there, and I love Vietnamese food here.

6. Is there a place you would never go again?
People probably won’t expect this answer (please don’t hate me for this), but I don’t absolutely love Melbourne. I’m not saying I’d never go there again, but it’s just not my favourite place to visit.

7. Can you recite your passport number from memory if asked?
No way! Actually that reminds me, I need to look into renewing mine soonish.

One of my absolute favourite days ever, on the Isle of Skye in Scotland

8. Do you prefer the window, aisle, or middle seat?
Definitely not the middle seat! I like the window seat, especially on long flights. I also don’t mind the aisle seat on shorter flights as it’s easy to get up and move around if you need to. Funny story, I once had to jump and launch myself over a guy sitting on the aisle seat because he would not wake up and I desperately needed to use the bathroom.

9. Favourite travel memory?
Oh my goodness, so many! I’m so thankful for all the wonderful memories and moments I’ve been able to experience on my travels. Visiting Scotland in 2017 with my mum and sister was SUPER exciting – I’ve always loved the movie Braveheart and had recently loved Outlander, and so actually being in Scotland (finally!) was so exciting. We had beautiful weather and were able to soak up Edinburgh and then the Scottish Highlands for an incredible two weeks. My heart was so happy. Then I also loved my travel experience to China in 2019 for two weeks, with all its culture, incredible food, Great Wall, and sweet people. China pleasantly surprised me in the best way possible. Also a shoutout to New Zealand because I just love that country – it’s beautiful.

10. What is your most ideal holiday?
It’s funny how this changes as you grow older. I can imagine if someone asked me this when I was 10 that I would have excitedly replied “DISNEYLAND!” Now, I love holidays with a combination of relaxation and outdoor adventure. Chris and I love the outdoors and being able to explore and enjoy God’s amazing Creation, wherever we go. Last year we spent two weeks in New Zealand’s South Island, mostly around Queenstown, and we loved exploring the outdoors and also chilling out and taking things slow.

11. Show us your nicest holiday photo!
This is probably my favourite travel photo and it also doubles as the prettiest sunset I’ve ever seen. I was in absolute awe at the sky as the colours exploded. It was during my university placement in Mt Isa in Queensland’s far north-west, and I had asked God to show me something beautiful, never expecting it to be this amazing sunset. This was at Lake Moondarra.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this blog providing a snapshot of some of my travel experiences. Wherever you travel, walk in wisdom, walk in humility, walk in gratitude, and walk in joy.

Psalm 24:1 – The earth belongs to the Lord, and everything in it – the world and all its people.
